Our Investments
Bitprop
Bitprop, established in early 2019, partners with South African township homeowners to transform underutilised backyard spaces into income-generating rental units. By providing the investment and operational expertise, Bitprop enables property owners to develop rental flats on their land, creating sustainable revenue streams and significantly increasing property values. This model not only offers homeowners immediate financial benefits but also contributes to addressing housing shortages in townships.
Why Guldhjulet Invests in Bitprop
Tangible Social Impact: Bitprop empowers homeowners to become property entrepreneurs, fostering economic independence and uplifting communities. Homeowners experience a immediate increase in monthly earnings that more than doubles the income of homeowners on South African state pension. After 10 years of partnership, the monthly income boost increases to 4-5 times the original amount, ensuring long-term financial stability for the homeowner.
Proven Business Model: With a successful proof of concept in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Bitprop has demonstrated the scalability and effectiveness of its approach.
Alignment with Guldhjulet's Mission: Bitprop's focus on social entrepreneurship and sustainable development resonates with Guldhjulet's commitment to investing in ventures that drive measurable social change.

Bodil
Most young families in Sweden would like to own their homes, but for the majority, high down payments make it unrealistic without parental help. Thus, a class gap emerges, some have parents who can help with the down payment, and some don’t. Bodil's rent-to-own model lets families, that are otherwise excluded from home ownership, move into their ideal home while saving for the down payment and purchasing it when they're ready. Bodil bridges the gap between renting and owning.
Why Guldhjulet Invests in Bodil
Tangible Social Impact: Bodil empowers families to become property owners and move into homes that fit their needs.
Proven Business Model: With a successful proof of concept in several larger cities in Sweden, where the challenge to buy a home is the greatest, Bodil has demonstrated the scalability of its model
Alignment with Guldhjulet's Mission: Bodil promotes socioeconomic inclusion and helps reduce geographic segregation. This resonates well with Guldhjulet's commitment to investing in ventures that drive social change.

SEB Microfinance
In many emerging and frontier markets, low-income households and small businesses lack access to formal financial services, limiting their ability to generate income and causing poverty. SEB Microfinance addresses this by investing in local financial institutions that provide small loans to borrowers otherwise excluded from traditional banks. Through these partnerships, the fund reaches more than 222,000 end-borrowers in 45 countries, including women entrepreneurs, micro-business owners, and smallholder farmers.
Why Guldhjulet Invests in SEB Microfinance
• Tangible Social Impact: Access to credit helps borrowers strengthen their income, manage financial shocks, and support local economic activity. More than 80% of end-borrowers are women, and the fund’s financing is estimated to support over 336,000 jobs.
• Proven Investment Platform: The fund has a long track record of delivering attractive returns to investors, which are not correlated with equity markets, providing diversification benefits.
• Alignment with Guldhjulet’s Mission: The fund contributes to poverty reduction and broader economic inclusion. This aligns with Guldhjulet’s focus on initiatives that support people in generating income for themselves, while also enabling them to build businesses that create jobs for others.
